Overview

The Pro Max 24 is a very appealing switch for a network that wants modern access speeds without the cost or heat of PoE. It is a smart pick for wired-heavy desks, lab spaces, or racks where another device is already handling powered endpoints.

Why I Recommend It

I recommend the Ubiquiti Pro Max 24 for its eight 2.5gbe ports make it more future-proof than the pro 24, good price for a modern 24-port layer 3 switch. Its eight 2.5GbE ports are the real story here. Compared with the Pro 24, that extra multigig capacity gives you much more flexibility for fast AP uplinks, NAS connections, or higher-end desktops, whi…

The Pro Max 24 makes sense when you know you want more than 1GbE access but not the cost of the Pro HD 24 or any PoE model. Compared with the Pro 24, it is the better future-facing option. Compared with the Pro Max 24 PoE, it is the cleaner buy when …

Performance & Reliability

Performance should feel snappy and predictable as long as the faster ports are assigned intentionally. This is not a top-end data center switch, but it is far more capable than a standard all-gigabit rack switch for mixed modern workloads. Reliability should also benefit from the simpler no-PoE design and lower overall thermal load.

Setup & Installation

It is an easy rack install and an easy UniFi adoption. The only real trap is buying it for a network that will later need switch-powered APs or cameras, because adding PoE later changes the value equation. If the power plan is already solved elsewhere, setup is refreshingly straightforward.

Value for the Money

The Pro Max 24 makes sense when you know you want more than 1GbE access but not the cost of the Pro HD 24 or any PoE model. Compared with the Pro 24, it is the better future-facing option. Compared with the Pro Max 24 PoE, it is the cleaner buy when powered ports would just go unused.
