★ 4.7NetworkingPrice tier $$$$

The Pro Max 24 is a very appealing switch for a network that wants modern access speeds without the cost or heat of PoE.

Overview

The Pro Max 24 is a 24-port 2.5G switch without PoE, positioned for wired segments that need 2.5G throughput without the overhead of PoE circuitry. It handles dense wired device clusters, core aggregation between a larger access layer and the router, or any 24-port wired segment.

Same non-blocking 2.5G fabric and 10G SFP+ uplinks as the rest of the Pro Max line.

Why I Recommend It

Desktop computers, NAS units, and server infrastructure often sit behind a separate non-PoE switch segment anyway. Keeping them off the PoE switches avoids cross-polluting the PoE power budgets with devices that don't need it and simplifies capacity planning.

At 24 ports without PoE, this is also a cost-effective core switch for a home rack where the actual routing happens on a UDM Pro and you need clean high-throughput switching between segments.

Performance & Reliability

24 ports at full 2.5G non-blocking. The 10G uplink means the switch doesn't constrain aggregate traffic from connected devices to the core. In a home environment, even a partially loaded 24-port switch at 2.5G far exceeds what consumer-grade equipment can offer.

Low heat output, no PoE complexity, straightforward managed switch operation. Among the simpler devices in the Pro Max lineup to operate reliably.

Firmware stability follows the same pattern as the rest of the Pro Max line. Test updates in a non-production window before applying broadly.

Setup & Installation

Adopt in UniFi Network, assign VLANs, connect devices. No PoE configuration, which shortens initial setup compared to PoE models.

Value for the Money

Lowest cost in the Pro Max lineup. For a clean 2.5G wired segment without PoE requirements, this is the most efficient entry point.

Don't choose this over the PoE version to save money if there's any chance of adding cameras, access points, or other PoE devices later. The price difference between PoE and non-PoE models is smaller than a switch replacement project.
