Ubiquiti Door Hub

★ 4.7Door AccessPrice tier $$$

Door Hub is still one of the most straightforward UniFi Access recommendations because it does the standard single-door job with very few compromises.

Overview

The Door Hub is the standard UniFi Access controller for a single door. It mounts on the interior side of an entry point, connects to a card reader or camera-reader combo outside, and controls the lock relay based on credential authorization from UniFi Access.

It powers connected readers over a dedicated output and handles both entry and exit reader connections, which lets you track both directions of traffic through a door.

Why I Recommend It

Most commercial keypad or card access systems work independently from the rest of your network infrastructure. The Door Hub integrates directly with UniFi so that door events, network policies, and surveillance can be tied together in one management interface.

The Door Hub Mini handles single-reader simpler installs. The standard Door Hub adds the second reader port and more relay outputs, which matters for bidirectional tracking or doors that need separate entrance and exit credential reads.

Performance & Reliability

Credential verification and lock release happens in under a second from a valid card read. The hardware is consistent and doesn't introduce meaningful latency into the access event chain.

Indoor mounting protects it from the environmental stress that outdoor hardware faces. The Door Hub is a low-maintenance device once it's installed and configured correctly.

Network connectivity is required for real-time event logging and remote credential updates. The device caches access rules locally for offline operation during brief network outages.

Setup & Installation

Mount inside the door near the lock hardware. Connect the reader wiring from the exterior reader, connect the lock relay to the lock strike or magnet, and adopt in UniFi Access. Testing before closing up the wall or doorframe is worth the extra time.

Value for the Money

For a small office or multi-door home install, the Door Hub is the repeatable unit cost in an Access deployment. Each door gets one. Budgeting per door makes cost planning straightforward.

The value improves when you're already using UniFi for networking and Protect for cameras. The three systems sharing one interface and one credential store is where the investment in Ubiquiti's ecosystem pays off.
